"Say What You Will About Sex Scandals"

Trump's sex scandal finally caught up to him, so Southern Baptists would like to remind you that they don't care about sex scandals.

Many years ago, I had to go to the National Religious Broadcasters in Nashville for a work thing. You think you’ve seen how weird American evangelicalism can be but, trust me, you have not exhaustively plumbed its depths until you’ve been to the NRB. I saw things at that convention that will haunt me on my deathbed.

I also attended a speech by a young, little-known evangelical pastor named Al Mohler. My friend Alicia was there with me and halfway through his little sermon, she passed me a note asking what I thought of him. I hadn’t been paying attention, and wrote as much. I asked what she thought. She responded: “He seems angry.”

Well, if she thought Al was angry then, she should have seen him on Friday!
